About This Tool

This free, browser-based converter lets you instantly turn text into natural-sounding speech, or transcribe your voice into written text — all without installing any software. It's powered by the Web Speech API built directly into your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tool really free? +
Absolutely. It uses only free browser APIs — no subscriptions, no hidden fees. You can use it as much as you want.
Which browsers are supported? +
Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers work best. Firefox and Safari don't support Speech Recognition yet, but Text-to-Speech may still function.
Can I save the speech as an audio file? +
Yes! Click "Save Audio" after entering your text. You'll be prompted to share your browser tab's audio — select the same tab and enable audio sharing. The tool plays the speech and records it, then downloads as a .webm file.
Does it work offline? +
Text-to-Speech may work offline once the voices are downloaded. Speech-to-Text requires an internet connection because the processing happens on Google's servers.
Does it work on mobile? +
Speech-to-Text works on Chrome for Android. Text-to-Speech playback works on most mobile browsers. Save Audio is desktop-only due to browser limitations (screen capture requires desktop Chrome/Edge).
Is my data safe? +
Everything stays in your browser. We don't collect, store, or transmit any text or audio recordings. For speech recognition, your voice is sent to Google — see our Privacy Policy for details.
